Dirty black holes: Entropy as a surface term.

چکیده
It is by now clear that the naive rule for the entropy of a black hole, (entropy) = 1/4 (area of event horizon), is violated in many interesting cases. Indeed, several authors have recently conjectured that in general the entropy of a dirty black hole might be given purely in terms of some surface integral over the event horizon of that black hole. A formal proof of this conjecture, using Lorentzian signature techniques, has recently been provided by Wald. This note performs two functions. Firstly, by extending a previous analysis due to the present author [Physical Review D48, ???? (15 July 1993)] it is possible to provide a rather different proof of this result — a proof based on Euclidean signature techniques. The proof applies both to arbitrary static [aspheric] black holes, and also to arbitrary stationary axisymmetric black holes. The total entropy is

Dirty black holes: Entropy versus area.
Considerable interest has recently been expressed in the entropy versus area relationship for “dirty” black holes — black holes in interaction with various classical matter fields, distorted by higher derivative gravity, or infested with various forms of quantum hair. In many cases it is found that the entropy is simply related to the area of the event horizon: S = kAH/(4l 2 P ). For example, t...
متن کاملThe phase transition of corrected black hole with f(R) gravity
In this letter, we consider static black hole in f(R) gravity. We take advantage from corrected entropy and temperature and investigate such black hole. Finally, we study the $ P - V $ critically and phase transition of corrected black hole with respect to entropy and temperature. Here also, we obtain the heat capacity for the static black hole in $ f(R) $ gravity. This calculation help us...
متن کاملHamiltonian evolution and quantization for extremal black holes
We present and contrast two distinct ways of including extremal black holes in a Lorentzian Hamiltonian quantization of spherically symmetric EinsteinMaxwell theory. First, we formulate the classical Hamiltonian dynamics with boundary conditions appropriate for extremal black holes only. The Hamiltonian contains no surface term at the internal infinity, for reasons related to the vanishing of t...

متن کاملDynamic black-hole entropy
We consider two non-statistical definitions of entropy for dynamic (non-stationary) black holes in spherical symmetry. The first is analogous to the original Clausius definition of thermodynamic entropy: there is a first law containing an energy-supply term which equals surface gravity times a total differential. The second is Wald’s Noether-charge method, adapted to dynamic black holes by usin...
